UNICEF India, IIHMR, and IIT Bombay launches ‘Digital Health Course’ for Healthcare Professionals, Experts share insights

UNICEF India, IIHMR, and IIT Bombay have launched a digital course to equip healthcare professionals with the skills needed to drive the digital transformation of India's healthcare sector.

UNICEF India in collaboration with IIHMR and IIT Bombay announced a digital course:

UNICEF India, in collaboration with the International Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) in New Delhi and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, has announced a groundbreaking digital course to equip healthcare professionals with the skills needed to drive the digital transformation of India's healthcare sector.

The 'Digital Health Enterprise Planning Course,' scheduled to commence on April 17.

The digital course' objective:

The digital course is for doctors, nurses, pharmacists, healthcare administrators, policymakers, IT professionals, and individuals, those who are involved in healthcare technology implementation. Its duration is 10 weeks.

Cynthia McCaffrey – About the digital course:

The UNICEF India Representative, Cynthia McCaffrey, said, "The digital health course launched by IIHMR, IIT Mumbai, and UNICEF today builds on India's commitment to promoting digital innovation in the health system by equipping healthcare professionals with exceptional skills and leveraging digital technologies.”

Professor Sutapa B Neogi’s view:

Professor Sutapa B Neogi, from IIHMR New Delhi, highlighted how the course helps healthcare professionals improve their skills for the digital age.

Curriculum:

Experts from IIHMR New Delhi and IIT Mumbai, and with technical inputs from UNICEF India developed a curriculum for the digital course.

The topics to be covered under the curriculum are - digital health interventions, telemedicine, health informatics, and cybersecurity.

Santosh Noronha:

Santosh Noronha, a professor at IIT Mumbai, said that the course is designed to build a robust digital health ecosystem in India.​

She said, the course will also include - online lessons, virtual lectures, group discussions, and hands-on workshops.
